Intl. Printing Museum
visual identity, graphic design
International Printing Museum is a non-profit organization that preserves and presents the history of printing through extensive collections, demonstrations of working machinery, historical reenactments, and hands-on workshops. While maintaining its historical roots, this hypothetical rebrand adds a contemporary touch that echoes the museum’s values as an inclusive space, fostering unique learning opportunities for all.
Logo & Clearspace
As the primary indicator of the museum’s story and heritage, the logo captures the constant flow and movement of the printing process. It emphasizes harmony of both the moving parts of the machinery and the community built through print. Clearspace is determined by the circle motif inside the counter of the monogram.
Motion
The variable monogram can be activated through rotation as well as horizontal expansion to create space for additional text inside.ApplicationGraphic elements reference the traditional printing process such as registration marks, the circular motion of both the press and the body, and the structure of type cases to expand the message of community through printing. They are used as framing elements and in repetition throughout the system.
