Mother Title Sequence
StyleframesA live action title sequence for Mother, a film directed by Bong Joon Ho. Throughout the film, there is a recurring motif of an acupuncture point that helps forget bad memories. Dojoon’s mother emotionally relies on this point as a coping mechanism to set her mind free from the overwhelming pain of reality. The sequence visualizes this vain attempt to escape reality through the process of straightening and repurposing bloodstained yarn. Although there may be temporary distractions, the remaining bloodstains act as a trace of the past that keeps coming back to haunt the mother.
For the type treatment of the title, I traced the letters on tracing paper and used it as a guide to sew onto the fabric. I then experimented with different lighting conditions, angles, apertures, and focal lengths to execute my intended macro shots.
